29-30 August 2025

What is Huihui?

Huihui is a non-competitive Festival of Dance held 29-30th August 2025 at the Great Lake Centre, Taupo.

Made for our people from our whenua. It is a celebration of creativity, expression and individuality in every form, aiming to inspire our next generation of dancers and provide exposure to the opportunities dance has beyond high-school.

Who’s it for?

All high-school aged students and studios in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Hawkes Bay regions are eligible and encouraged to take part.

This festival celebrates all who love to dance. All abilities, styles, backgrounds and experiences. It is a safe and encouraging platform to learn and develop your skills without the fear of judgement.

Why take part?

Huihui will allow students to attend a range of workshops covering choreography and various technical elements. Students will be able to engage in discussion with top industry creatives and receive constructive feedback to develop their own practice.

Supported by students of dance from the University of Auckland you will be able to get a first hand account of what it’s like to pursue dance at a tertiary level
